Practical Information

Waste Prevention & Recycling

All local administrations have a special service for picking up oversized furniture and other large household objects so that people won’t throw them into the street; an action that is against the law. Recycling is also mandatory for vehicles and electrical appliances. In the case of car abandonment, the police track the license plate number to the proprietor’s registry, and fine the owner. For appliances, a recycling fee is already included in the price, and the store has to take the old appliance, when delivering the new one to the buyer’s house. Fines for not complying with mandatory recycling can go up to 5000 Euros.
