Though Switzerland has produced some notable artists, they have generally developed their talents in other countries. The Swiss are a country of pragmatists and rational thinkers, and while this serves to produce top-notch scientists and diplomats, it is not particularly encouraging of unbridled creativity. Nevertheless, the Swiss are proud of their cultural heritage and are making and effort to develop the arts more fully.
