Monitoring Goes High Tech
The Swiss Experiment is a project begun late in 2007 that connects new advances in data collection, management and communications technology with environmental research and monitoring. In the past, there was not enough data to provide accurate models, but by utilising the latest technologies such as wireless networking, it will enable researchers to assimilate a wider range of data more effectively in order to more accurately predict natural disasters such as avalanches, floods and landslides, and better monitor climate change.
