The Swiss insurance industry is thought of as one of the safest in the world, as no Swiss insurance company has ever failed since the establishment of the first company in 1857. In 2006, the Swiss insurance industry took in 187 billion CHF worldwide, contributing more than 5% to the country’s GDP, according to the Swiss Insurance Association.
