Brief Review

Public Health Insurance

There is no public, state-run health service, though some hospitals and clinics receive government funding. The Swiss government subsidises low-income families for the cost of their health insurance plan if they can prove their financial need by submitting their most recent tax return documents. Those making below a certain maximum annual salary are eligible for assistance. This maximum amount is set by the individual cantons, and the requirements necessary for filing for assistance in each canton can be found on the Swiss Portal.
