Selling Property

You can choose to sell your property yourself or list it with a real estate agent. The seller is responsible for the agency fees, which generally range from 2% to 5%, plus 7.6% VAT. Swiss capital gains tax begins at 30% and is gradually reduced on a sliding scale to 0% if you own the property for at least 20 years. At any rate, in most cantons it is not even possible to sell your property during the first 5 to 10 years of ownership.
