National Parks
The Swiss National Park is the only national park in Switzerland, though it was one of the first in Europe, founded in 1914. It is free and open to the public, and is located in the easternmost part of Switzerland in the canton of Graubünden, covering 172 square kilometres, with 80 kilometres of trails. There are also a number of regional nature parks open to the public, the largest being Parc Ela, also in canton Graubünden, covering an area of 600 square kilometres. Information about the different nature parks can be found on the MySwitzerland website.
