Visa & Permits

The retirement age for men in Switzerland is 65 and women 64, however, there is no age limit on being permitted to work. If not a member of an EU/EFTA country however, you do have to have a valid work permit. Seniors who declare they are not pursuing paid employment may obtain a residency permit based on proof of sufficient income to support themselves in Switzerland (i.e. pensions, IRA’s, etc.). This amount should be a declared annual income of at least 150,000 CHF. Consult our section on Visa & Permits for more information.
