Bringing Your Pets

Animal health certificates are only required for pet dogs, cats and ferrets. Generally, no quarantines are imposed on animals coming into the country. If the pet is coming from the EU it needs to have had been vaccinated against rabies at least 21 days before entering Switzerland. All pets must have a mirochip or tattoo for identification and must be accompanied by a completed pet ID. All dogs must be registered in the Animal Identification Service (ANIS) database within 10 days of arrival in Switzerland. Pets must have a EU pet passport issued by a veterinarian authorized to do so by the veterinary authorities in the country of origin and must contain the following information:
