Finding a Job

If you are looking for a job in the UK, there are several things you can do before you leave your home country and after you arrive in the UK. Here are a few suggestions:

Prior to leaving your home country:

• Check job advertisements in newspapers which cater to an international market.



• Use the European Employment Services (EURES) database to search for jobs in the UK.



• Talk to your local Chamber of Commerce. They often have lists of native companies doing business in the UK.

Once in the UK:

• Regularly review the job classifieds in UK newspapers and on various websites such as the BBC News, The Guardian, The Scotsman and the Belfast Telegraph.



• Go to a local JobCentre Plus to see if there are job openings in the region you are living.



• Consider using a private recruiting agency if you are in a specialized sector. Use the phone directory to locate an agency near you.
